Who in your circle said they were going to do something and the naysayers laughed? A couple of years later, they’ve achieved the goals they set out to and have surpassed even their own expectations.
The big difference between those of us who have dreams and take the action versus those who have a dream and do nothing is taking the first step and the necessary actions to get there.
I know of many examples when this has happened – people have laughed others off in such a way that no one cares what they go off and do. Then one day, they appear with the grace of their successes and everyone is left gob-smacked…funny hey?
Unless we act towards our dreams, they remain nice ideas and one day, we read that someone else took our idea and made it a big success.
So, rather than focusing or laughing at someone else’s dreams, get on and focus on your own plan, the results will be rewarding and you won’t have time to worry about other people.
Dreams and goals are subjective to our lives and circumstances, the size doesn’t matter; what matters is taking steps and action to move towards them.
Dreams and goals can be on any topic, from a new job, weight loss, or setting up a business to moving to a new country.
Here are some things to consider:
1. Do your homework
Whatever the idea or dream, be prepared and educated.
2. Step back and assess
Review your why and purpose. How does achieving these goals align with who you are and
where you want to go?
Tip: read books about purpose such as Simon Sinek’s “Find your Why”
3. Consistency
Consistency is a superpower and when we continue to build this ability, one day, a shift happens and everything changes.
Tip: if you commit to spending one hour a day on a specific task relevant to your goal and do it with full focus, then review the progress.
4. Action Plan
Nothing will happen unless we take action. For those of us who are waiting for something to happen…remember that the boat may get missed, so get cracking with things.
Tip: make a plan of your goals and then write down your action plan to go with these goals. This helps you plan what needs to happen to get there.
5. The circle of trust
Surround yourself with people who hone, grow and nurture your dreams…the ones who will
give good feedback and tell you when something is not working.
“Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your dream.”
